From one league to another

The Vancouver Canucks joined the hockey landscape way back in the year 1945 as a PCHL side. They remained members of the league all the way till 1952 before making the switch to the WHL that year. The Canucks were then bought by a consortium being headed by Tom Scallen, a businessman from Minnesota. He had already been awarded a team by the NHL so he moved his newly acquired franchise to the NHL in 1970. The Vancouver Canucks tenure as an NHL franchise was about to kick on.

The NHL run

The Vancouver Canucks did not qualify for the playoffs during the first four season. The season of 1974-1975 saw them end that jinx and they went all the way to the quarterfinals where they lost to the Montreal Canadiens. They also clinched a division title that year.

The Vancouver Canucks then proceeded to get their hands on their first conference championship in the year 1982.  They won their first Presidents’ Trophy in 2011. The Canucks have won three conference titles, two Presidents Trophies and ten division championships.

The Stanley Cup has still eluded them but will now look at have another crack at winning it after going so close in 2011. It promises to be an interesting ride.
