The first years

The Texas Rangers were incepted in the year 1961 but the wheels for that were set in motion a year earlier when the original Washington Senators relocated to Minnesota. The MLB made a decision to expand and LA and Washington were awarded two sides. The new team in Washington named themselves the Washington Senators but they were an expansion side nonetheless. The Senators remained based in Washington till 1971 but did not make it the playoffs even once.

Texas Rangers

They moved to Texas after the 1971 season and were renamed the Texas Rangers. The Rangers struggled in their new surroundings too. They turned it around in 1996 when they won the division title and made it to the playoffs for the first time ever. They won two more division championships in 1998 and 1999.

Two more division titles were added to the collection in 2010 and 2011. The Rangers also clinched two pennants during those two seasons. 2015 and 2016 saw them take their division championship haul to seven.

The Rangers haven’t won the World Series yet and will be looking to change that sooner rather than later. Their upcoming series against the Blue Jays will be a good indicator to judge where they stand right now.
