The Texas Bowl is a famous American college football bowl game organized at the Reliant Stadium in Houston, Texas. Known also as the Meineke Car Care Bowl of Texas, it was first organized in 2006 and has been held each year after. It features teams from the Big Twelve and Big Ten conferences. Previously, it featured the Big East conference, Mountain West Conference and Conference USA. The payout per team, as of 2011, is a mind blowing one million seven hundred thousand dollars. The 2017 Texas Bowl will take place on December 27, 2017. Since it is one of the most popular bowl games in college football, fans are excited to see which two sides will line-up against each other on the big day. The Texas Bowl, also known as the Meineke Car Care Bowl of Texas, is an annual college football bowl. In 2012, the bowl game featured the Minnesota Golden Gophers football team against the Texas Tech Raiders football team, who emerged as the victors with a 34-31 score. In 2011, the bowl game featured the Texas A&M Aggies football team versus the Northwestern Wildcats football team, with the Texas A&M team emerging as the winners with a score of 33-22. This is a post-season college football bowl game that falls under the NCAA Division I FBS and is sanctioned by the NCAA. It was founded as the successor to the Houston Bowl, which was played for five years from 2000 to 2005.

The Houston Bowl was in itself the successor to the iconic Bluebonnet Bowl, which was played from 1959 until 1987. The Texas Bowl, known also as the Meineke Car Care Bowl of Texas, is the reincarnation of these two famous bowl games. Lone Star Sports & Entertainment took over management of the Houston Bowl with the NFL Network acquiring naming rights and TV rights. The bowl was renamed and relaunched in 2006 with three conferences affiliated with the bowl game; Big East, Big Twelve and Conference USA. The Texas Christian University, from the Mountain West Conference, was also affiliated with the bowl game.

The first bowl game, in 2006, saw the Rutgers Scarlet Knights football team face Kansas State Wildcats football team and emerge as the victors with a 37-10 score. The game was attended by over fifty two thousand people. In 2007, the TCU Horned Frogs faced the Houston Cougars and emerged as the victors with a score of 20-13. The game was attended by over sixty two thousand people. In 2008, the Rice Owls football team won the game against Western Michigan Broncos football team by 38-14 to an audience of fifty eight thousand. In 2009, the Navy Midshipmen football team defeated the Missouri Tigers football team by 35-13 to an attendance of sixty nine thousand.

In 2010, the Illinois Fighting Illini football team defeated the Baylor Bears football team by 38-14, playing for an audience sixty eight thousand large, each of whom had bought Texas Bowl tickets to be at the game.
