Texas Christian University (TCU) has prepared approximately eighteen athletic teams to represent the university in various sports. TCU's mascot is the Horned Frog. The first reference to this mascot is attributed to the AddRan yearbook in 1897, after which it was adopted by TCU formally. The teams involved in TCU's sports participate in tournaments held by the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA). Therefore, the TCU Horned Frog is a platform which helps to build recognition for the university and earns a name for the specific institute it represents. It conducts sports from universities all over the United States and Canada. The games played include football, baseball, basketball, volleyball, golf, soccer, swimming, tennis, and rifle. TCU has plans to move to the Big East Conference in the coming months.
