Syracuse University is a state-of-the-art university in Syracuse, New York. Syracuse orange is one of founding members of Big East Conference which was founded in 1979, the other members being St. John’s University, Providence College and Georgetown University. The mascot of Syracuse Orange is "Otto the Orange" which is a fun part in the basketball games. The team wears a uniform with orange and navy blue colors and the team song is "Let’s Go Orange". The team plays its home games at Carrier Dome.
Carrier Dome is a magnificent sports arena located in University Hill, on the campus of Syracuse University. Apart from being the home arena of Syracuse Orange basketball team, it also homes the football and lacrosse teams of Syracuse University. Some high school championships and concerts are also held at the arena. The arena opened in 1980 and has a seating capacity of more than 49,000 people for football, more than 43,000 for basketball and more than 56,000 people for concerts. In the whole of Northeastern United States, Carrier Dome is the largest college sports arena and has housed a lot of NCAA’s largest crowds and has seen a number of memorable moments with every event which marks the history of this arena.
The first basketball game was played in 1899 against Christian Association of Hamilton from Ontario. The team is the fifth biggest successful NCAA team and holds a record of winning 39 seasons consecutively. Currently, Jim Boeheim is the head coach of the team and it is his 35th year with Syracuse Orange Men’s Basketball team. The roster of the team currently comprises of Rick Jackson, Nick Resavy, Dion Waiters, Nolan Hart, C.J. Fair, Scoop Jardine, Baye Moussa Keita, Griffin Hoffmann, Matt Lyde-Cajuste, Brandon Triche, Mookie Jones, Brandon Reese, Russ DeRemer, Kris Joseph, DaShonte Riley, Matt Tomaszewski, James Southerland and Fabricio De Melo. All the team members are energetic and full of potential.
Carmelo Anthony, Dave Johnson, Dave Bing, Donte Greene, Leo Rautins, Hakim Warrick, John Wallace, Jason Hart, Billy Owens and Sherman Douglas are among the notable players of Syracuse Orange basketball team. It is a great honor for the college basketball teams that their players become a part of NBA and Syracuse Orange Men’s Basketball team have produced a number of players who have joined BA because of their immense talent. Among those players are Wesley Johnson, Johnny Flynn and Jason Hart who joined Minnesota Timberwolves, Donte Greene joined Sacramento Kings, Carmelo Anthony Joined Denver Nuggets, Etan Thomas joined Oklahoma City Thunder, Andy Rautins joined New York Knicks and Hakim Warrick joined Phoenix Suns.
