San Antonio Rodeo Tickets

Dating back to 1950, San Antonio Stock Show and Rodeo has now grown up to be the largest event of its kind in the entire country. Annually the San Antonio Rodeo is held in the month of February and it usually lasts for up to three weeks. Presently the event is staged at the AT&T Center in San Antonio, however prior to 2003 it was permanently being held at the Joe & Harry Freeman Coliseum.

San Antonio Stock Show and Rodeo has improved a lot from what it was back when it was incepted. It has become a lot more grander and popular than it was ever before. The main purpose of the show is to spread agricultural education and awareness among the youth of Texas. In that regard, the show took an amazing initiative back in 1984 when the rodeo started off a scholarship program for those who were pursuing a degree in the field of agriculture. Since then till today, the rodeo has granted well over $64 Million dollars in the name of that scholarship program. Every year the event also attracts some of the finest and professional rodeo participants to the show as more than $500,000 worth of prizes are given out to the winners every year. Due to the huge amount of popularity and success, San Antonio Rodeo has grown to be ranked amongst the top five Rodeos in the nation that are sanctioned by the Professional Rodeo Cowboys Association. That is the reason why San Antonio Rodeo was also inducted in the Pro-Rodeo Hall of Fame. Annually, Rodeo attracts a large number of people to the show, and that number crossed the bar of $1.1 Million in 2005. Like always, this year’s edition of the show will pack the same amount of family fun and excitement as it always does, so it’s a good idea to book your San Antonio Rodeo tickets beforehand.

Prior to the creation of the show, many cattle shows and agricultural exhibitions were held in Texas on a bit smaller scale. These events kept on making their way to the city of San Antonio year after year, but all of these shows suffered as there wasn’t any suitable facility for such shows in the city.

Seeing that the city lacked a facility to support such an event, Joe Freeman embarked on a movement back in 1940s and the result of which was the creation of Joe and Harry Freeman Coliseum. Although Joe and Harry Freeman Coliseum was a multi-purpose facility, but the main purpose of the Coliseum was to host such kind of events that would generate awareness regarding agriculture and livestock among the youth of Texas. So after the creation of the coliseum, San Antonio Rodeo became an annual tradition in San Antonio. In 2003 the show was moved to a much more state of the art facility in the city, the AT&T Center. As AT&T Center was much bigger than Freeman Coliseum, it could accommodate 6,000 more attendees comparatively.

Presently San Antonio Rodeo boasts to be the biggest rodeo and live stock event in the country, and if you don’t know why, grab your San Antonio Rodeo tickets to find out.
