The home grounds of the Timbers, Jeld-Wen Field and Merlo Field, both in Portland, will again ring with the cheers and songs of the Timbers Army this year. Particularly popular will be the newly renovated Jeld –Wen Field, which can now seat up to twenty-three thousand fans and attendees. The field is also, interestingly enough, the home of a feral cat colony, which locals say probably, settled in the area even before the construction of the field. The cats are protected and taken care of during any and all repairs and renovations to the field. Known to be a hard working club, the Portland Timbers have come a long way from their humble start, having won many titles and games along the way, making a respectable name for themselves among US soccer. And of course they have those ever loyal fans and supporters, known to turn up in droves at games, particularly the famed Timbers Army group of fans who are known for being very loud and very, very proud. Particularly popular are the matches between the Timbers and the Seattle Sounders, this being their oldest and most bitter rivalry.
