The mercury is heating up this year for basketball lovers as the Phoenix Mercury come to your city for a thrilling match. Get your hands on Phoenix Mercury tickets to feel the heat! The Phoenix Mercury is a professional basketball team that has been around for fourteen years since its inception in 1997. The team is based in Phoenix and belongs to the Western Conference in the Women's National Basketball Association (WNBA). Diana Taurasi, Candice Dupree, Penny Taylor, and Cappie Pondexter are some of the famous names associated with the Phoenix Mercury. In 1997, the team did a commendable job soon after it was founded and made a big name for itself. Players like Nancy Lieberman, Michele Timms, Jennifer Gillom, and Bridget Pettis were the highlights of the team and led them to secure a place in the WNBA playoffs, though they lost to the New York Liberty. In 1998, the Phoenix Mercury again landed in the playoffs and defeated the Cleveland Rockers, making their way into the finals. Unfortunately, the Houston Comets walked away with the Championship.

The Phoenix Mercury showed a drastic decline in 1999, failing to maintain the high bar they had set for themselves in the past. They missed the playoffs and it was downhill from then on. In 2000, they were defeated by the Los Angeles Sparks and the team completely dismantled, failing to make the playoffs for a long time. There were many reasons behind the team's sudden downfall; some leading players left due to retirement and trade issues, and the team's coaches changed frequently, adding to the instability. However, after a few years of darkness, former coach Paul Westhead came as a guiding light for the Phoenix Mercury in 2006 and nudged them in the right direction. That year, they had a winning record of 18-16 and were in the playoffs all year. In 2007, the team's performance showed redeeming qualities that put them back at the top. They set their best record in franchise history at 23-11 and beat the Seattle Storm in the playoffs. They also defeated the San Antonio Silver Stars, and then faced the 2006 defending champions, the Detroit Shock, showing them they were here to stay. They defeated them 2-1, then the Los Angeles Sparks 2-1, and finally the Indiana Fever 3-2.
In 2011, the team entered the All-Star Break with a 10-5 record and gained the third seed in the 2011 WNBA playoffs. They outsmarted the Seattle Storm but lost to the Minnesota Lynx. The Phoenix Mercury have two championships (2007 and 2009) and three Conference titles (1998, 2007 and 2009) to their credit. Hall of Famers Nancy Lieberman and Cheryl Miller, and All-Stars Diana Taurasi, Penny Taylor, Adrian Williams, Brandy Reed, Michelle Timms and Candice Dupree have all helped the team reach professional heights. Buy Phoenix Mercury tickets and ensure your presence at a phenomenal match to witness which team leads the way!
