Minnesota Duluth Bulldogs as evident from the name is a group of 14 varsity sport teams that play for the University of Minnesota Duluth. The Bulldogs are headquartered in the serene city of Duluth in Minnesota. The teams of University of Duluth were named Bulldogs in 1933. Currently the director of athletics is Bob Nielson. The official mascot is champ whereas the teams are nicknamed UMD Bulldogs and their official fight song is UMD Rouser. The official team colors are gold and maroon. They take part in a variety of games such as   basketball, cross country, football ice hockey, tennis, volleyball, soccer, softball, tennis and baseball. Only for ice hockey the Bulldogs play as a part of the NCAA D1.

The Bulldogs home venue for football is the James Malosky Stadium that can seat up to 4500 viewers. The Bulldog Park is used as a baseball stadium, whereas the arena for basketball is Romano Gymnasium. For all other games the very famous DECC (Duluth Entertainment Convention Center) is used. This venue is located on 350 Harbor Dr Duluth in Minnesota. This is used for ice hockey games as well as graduation ceremonies, plays, symphonies and concerts. Till date the Bulldogs have won two NCAA Division 11 national championships of football. In ice hockey the women team has won accolades by winning five championships in 2001, 02, 03, 08 and 10. Currently this team is considered to be one of the best women college ice hockey teams of NCAA. Recently in 2011 the men’s ice hockey team won their first ever NCAA ice hockey championship. In the finals the Bulldogs were able to beat the very strong Michigan by 3-2.


Minnesota Duluth Bulldogs have thus uncanny ability to fight till the last moment and this attitude makes them a tough contender.
