The Wolverines football team plays as a member of the Big Ten Conference in the NCAA Division I Football Bowl Subdivision level. They have been quite successful over the years, and have eleven national championships and forty two conference titles to their name.

The team’s home arena is the famous Michigan Stadium, which has been their home since 1927. With a seating capacity of over a hundred thousand, it is the largest football only stadium in the world.

The program began playing collegiate football in 1879, and since then, the Wolverines have won an NCAA record 910 football games and have a record all time winning percentage of .735. Since the inception of the AP Poll in 1936, the Wolverines have finished in the top ten an astounding thirty seven times, which is the third best tally in history.

The team’s traditional arch rivals are the Michigan State Spartans football team against whom they compete for the annual Paul Bunyan Trophy. Having been played annually since 1910, the fixture became a conference rivalry when Michigan State entered the Big Ten Conference in 1950.

As of today there have been 106 meetings between both colleges, with the Wolverines leading the series with a 68-33-5 record. History is on the Wolverines’ side and they will  look to establish their authority over their rivals once again.
