The Memphis Grizzlies were formed in 1995 in Vancouver as Vancouver Grizzlies. Later, the team moved to Memphis in 2001. They played their home games at the General Motors Palace since their formation till the year2001. Since 2004, the FedExForum has been the team’s home ground. During 2001-2004, the team played at the Pyramid Arena, Memphis. The franchise is currently owned by Robert Pera while Chris Wallace is their General Manager.

The Memphis Grizzlies will compete with some of the strongest teams this season including San Antonio, OKC and a few others. Their Head Coach, Dave Joerger is determined to bag an NBA title this season as they have not yet won any championships, Conference or Division titles.It was during the season of 2006-2007 when the team lost poorly. Subsequently, the then General Manager, Jerry West resigned from his position owing to team’s poor performance.

The official mascot of the team is known as Grizz. The terrestrial channel, SportSouth, which is a sister TV channel of Fox Sports telecasts their games. Besides this,ESPN 92.9 FM airs their games on radio.The team is also involved in charity pursuits under the program called Friends of Grizz and all the money accrued is donated to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
