Kentucky Wildcats are the intercollegiate athletic squadrons, comprising both men and women. The members are mainly the students of the University of Kentucky. The squad will perform at the Rupp Arena, Lexington.

The name, Wildcats was adopted in 1909 when the dean of the State University’s military department, after a game, told the students during a cathedral service that the Kentucky team had fought like Wildcats. Since then, the term became popular and it was later adopted as a nickname for the squad by the university administration. Earlier, the squad was popular as Lady Kats. The blue and white colors for the team were declared official in 1892.
