About the Hartford Yard Goats

The Hartford Yard Goats is owned and operated by Josh Solomon and is under the management of Warren Schaeffer. The nickname for the team ‘Yard Goats’ was chosen as part of a contest called “Name the Team”, which managed to get more than 6,000 name submissions.

The Hartford Yard Goats have two mascots, a blue colored female goat called Chew Chew and a green colored male goat called Chompers.

Hartford Yard Goats – Over the Years

Since their inaugural season, the Hartford Yard Goats have been quite a phenomenon in the baseball world. They finished third in the 2016 season, with a record of 74-67 under manager Darin Everson. In the 2017 season, they finished 5^th, with a record of 62-77 under manager Jerry Weinstein.

The 2017 season was a big year for the rising team as they drew an increasing number of fans to their games. Team president, Tim Restall was truly feeling the positive vibe and called the atmosphere “magical”. He added that, “All the planning, all the preparation, the extra time it took to prepare. All of a sudden, we started executing, seeing fans enter the ballpark, baseball being played. All the things we had talked about for a long time were coming true.”
