The Denver Pioneers are the collective name given to the 17 varsity sports teams from the University of Denver. All teams are classified as part of the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) and are filed under Division I. They also play under the Western Athletic Conference (WAC) and have been part of this union since July 2012. The teams are some of the oldest sports groups to come from a university in the United States, having existed since 1867 and actively competing since then. In the beginning, however, they had no proper name. This remained the case until the 1920s, after which "Pioneers" was suggested as a result of a student contest which asked people to come up with a title. The university games have resumed, and the schedule for basketball, soccer, and lacrosse games has been announced. To witness any of these matches live, buy Denver Pioneer tickets.

This does not mean that other mainstream sports have been neglected by the university. The students at Denver excel in golf, tennis, volleyball, diving, gymnastics, and soccer. Furthermore, the women's teams are just as good as the men's teams, which has earned them a place in Sports Illustrated's list of the top 30 out of 100 top sports programs in America.
The teams are currently gearing up for the upcoming season, in the hope that the change in conferences and their joining the "Summit League" will not upset their performance. But while the athletes and their coaches remain the same, their fans can rest assured that the upcoming games will be nothing short of eventful. Meanwhile, Denver Pioneer tickets for all the different dates can be found online.
