The team moved to Milwaukee in 1951 and their name was shortened to Hawks. They further shifted to St. Louis in 1955, and won their lone NBA Championship three years later. It was in 1968 that the team was named Atlanta Hawks, after they moved there. Ever since then the Hawks have been based in Atlanta, Georgia. They play their home games at the Philips Arena, where their mascot Harry the Hawk is often seen entertaining the audience.
