Born on the 8th of July, 1992 in the city of Los Angeles, California, this young and exciting pop singer and songwriter has built a massive fan base online, which continues to grow in staggering numbers. Sky Tonia Ferreira is a Los Angeles native, who is of Brazilian, Portuguese and Native American descent. Her childhood has been spent in the company of the King of Pop himself, Michael Jackson. Sky’s mother was a hair stylist and the legendary pop star was her client for 25 years, hence he became a close family friend to Ferreira’s family.  To Sky, Michael Jackson was like family, as she grew around him and had holidays with him. She was always interested in singing and with her childhood being spent with the presence of the greatest pop musician, Sky Ferreira was on the right track, but the route to success was by no means an easy journey.

At the young age of nine, she began performing songs by Elton John on the piano. This did not go unnoticed as she was quickly discovered by a local church gospel choir. Her vocal talents were highly praised and young Sky was considered to be a potentially valuable asset. These praises prompted her to refine her singing voice, so around the age of thirteen, Sky Ferreira started taking opera lessons.

In the next few years, she worked on maintaining her online profile through Myspace, by uploading different cover songs as well as short demo tracks that she herself had written. It did not take long for her profile on this social network site to get the attentions of music producers, looking for young talent. Her demos and covers managed to impress the famous Swedish music producing pair known as Bloodshy & Avant. So impressed were they that they contacted her through the social networking site and offered a chance to come work with them.

This was a huge opportunity for the 15 year old Shy Ferreira, as she got the chance to work with one of her musical idols, Britney Spears. She and the Swedish duo worked on the production of the highly popular Britney Spear song called, Toxic. This was a great learning and useful experience for the young Sky Ferreira as this eventually led to a deal with the Parlophone Records in the 2009.

Other than her singing and songwriting talents, Sky Ferreira is a talented actress and a model. She has made several appearances in commercials, music videos as well as films. She is making her major motion picture debut in the movie, The Green Inferno, by Eli Roth. Sky Ferreira’s song Obsession became the soundtrack to the popular television series, The Vampire Diaries and later on her first official extended play called, As If! was released to very positive reviews on the 22nd of March, 2011.

Her second EP, called Ghost was also a big success and her track Everything is Embarrassing is considered by many as one of the best songs of 2012. Despite many delays, she will finally release her highly anticipated debut album called, I Will next year.
