It's been over a decade since The Sisters of Mercy last toured extensively across America. But now, thanks to System of a Down's love for the iconic band, they're set to hit the road once again. Co-founder and vocalist Andrew Eldritch revealed that it was System of a Down's profound appreciation for the Sisters of Mercy that sparked their desire to return to America for the first time since 2008.

But he admits that the band's currency is strong, especially with the metal community right now. In fact, they credit System of a Down frontman Serj Tankian with helping them secure a spot on the Sick New World Festival lineup.

After being confirmed for the festival, the band decided to stick around and give U.S. fans an experience they've been craving for well over a decade. Eldritch recalls a touching moment during one of their previous shows in Australia when System of a Down spotted him in the crowd and immediately launched into one of their old songs as a way of saying hello.
