The American ensemble was formed in 2000 when the musician Max Bemis decided to create a group with four friends. The band was initially named Sayanything and it was around the year 2002 that Bemis decided to add a space between the two words. The current lineup of the band consists of Max Bemis providing lead vocals and as lead guitarist, Jake Turner and Jeff Turner on guitars, Parker Case playing the keyboards, Reed Murray handling drums and Adam Siska playing bass. Jake and Jeff Turner and Parker Case also occasionally provide backing vocals.

Within a time period of three years from its formation, the group released a full length album named "Baseball: An Album by Sayanything" and two EPs, "In Your Dreams" and "Junior Varsity". After the success of these releases, Say Anything was approached by Doghouse Records and the band signed a contract with the recording company. They were seen releasing an album through the label, "?Is A Real Boy", after which heavy touring was initiated. Despite all the success that was making its way to the group, Say Anything disbanded due to Bemis?s drug addictions. All five members were seen quitting from the band and Bemis decided to enroll himself into a rehabilitation center.

After successfully beating his demons, Bemis reformed his group and signed a contract with J Records in 2005. In the same year, Say Anything co-headlined on tours with bands such as "Saves the Day" and "Hellogoodbye" in 2006 and 2007, respectively. An album was released following the end of the touring and this was the group?s third studio album. It was titled "In Defense of the Genre" and was made public in 2007.

In the next year, Say Anything was seen touring throughout UK and US, also taking part in the Warped Tour. Another album release followed these tours in 2009. The album was self-titled and came out via J Records. The most recent album that was brought forth by Say Anything was in 2012. It was titled "Anarchy, My Dear" and came out through Equal Vision Records. The album was awarded an accumulated score of eighty five percent by Absolutepunk.net and an eight out of ten score by Rocksound. The release presented a total of twelve tracks including the popular hits "Burn a Miracle", Night?s Song", "Say Anything", "Anarchy, My Dear", "So Good" and "Admit It Again".

The music that is created by Say Anything falls in the genres of pop punk and emo music. The primary songwriter of the band is Max Bemis who talks about how lyrics should be written incorporating one?s experiences into the words. Most of Bemis?s compositions follow autobiographical accounts and topics of drug abuse, alienation from society and human relationships.
