Born in 1988 in Mineola, Texas the young Musgraves grew up listening to the greatest country singers. As a result she fell in love with the genre and decided she wanted to pursue a professional career as an artist. Signing onto CDBaby in 2002, Musgraves released her debut studio album at the mere age of fourteen. The record was titled "Movin’ On". Her next two records were self-financed namely "Wanted: one Good Cowboy" that came out in 2003 and her self-titled release of 2007. After her third album came out, Musgraves auditioned for the USA Networks reality competition "Nashville Star". Making it to the live stage, the young singer was placed seventh in the competition.

Her performances on Nashville Star attracted the record label company, Mercury Nashville. Signing a deal with the company, Musgraves came out with her fourth studio album in 2013. Titled "Same Trailer, Different Park", the album landed on the first spot of the Top Country Albums Chart. It was also placed second on the US Billboard 200 Chart. The album presents audiences with a total of twelve tracks that run for an accumulated time of forty minutes. The artist was involved in the writing process of all the tracks on the album. The record was produced with the help of Shane McAnally and Luke Laird.

"Same Trailer, Different Park" provides tunes of country pop, country folk mixed with blues-rock and rockability. Most of the songs provide a mid tempo and tracks worth listening to include "Merry Go ‘Round", "Blowin’ Smoke", "Silver Lining", "My House" and "I Miss You", including several others. The record has proven to be a commercial success selling a whopping amount of forty two thousand copies in the first week alone. To date "Same Trailer, Different Park" has sold over one hundred and sixty five thousand copies. Critics also gave the album positive ratings as publications such as AllMusic and Rolling Stones rated it four stars, while American Songwriter and Taste of Country gave it 4.5 stars. If this wasn’t enough Robert Christgau, Country Weekly and Entertainment Weekly gave it a score of "A minus".

A single from this album "Merry Go Round" received gold certification, selling over six hundred thousand copies. It was placed fourteenth on the Hot Country Songs Chart and tenth on Country Airplay. Another single from the release "Blowin’ Smoke" sold over one hundred and fifty thousand copies, making its way to the top thirty of both Country Airplay and Hot Country Songs Charts.
