As a duo, Chromeo is made up of two members; David Macklovitch makes up one half of Chromeo and is best known by his stage nick, Dave 1, whereas Patrick Gemayel makes up the other equal half and is also best known by the nick P-Thugg. Thus, Dave 1 and P-Thugg are the two members of this very famous Electrofunk duo. Chromeo first began performing and releasing music back in 2004 and is still active today. They can be heard live on radio as a group on rotation on the Canadian radio channel, CBC Radio 3. P-Thugg, whose actual name is Patrick Gemayel, plays the keyboards, the synthesizers and the talk box as part of the duo whereas Dave 1 whose actual name is David Macklovitch plays the guitar and is Chromeo’s lead vocalist. Thus, Dave1’s vocals on top of P-Thugg’s awesome instrumental skills is Chromeo’s sound.

Chromeo came to fame with their second album, a released titled as Fancy Footwork that became their breakthrough release in the world of mainstream music. These two Chromeo members came together while studying at the same high school when both joined the same band at the age of fifteen. After being part of a band, the two artists then began producing hip hop music together and thus began their collaborative music work. One of the first projects this duo was involved in was for Tiga for his record label, Turbo, in 2002. Two years later, in 2004, Chromeo was out with their first album, She’s in Control. This album was favorable reviewed and critically acclaimed; Chromeo’s musisc was compared to that of legends such as Sylvester, Hall & Oates and Klymaxx.

One of the songs from Chromeo’s first album, Needy Girl, was not only famous in America but also became an international club hit sensation. This awesome song was played by the best DJs all over the world at numerous clubs all over the world. It made Chromeo so famous that the next year, Chromeo released the album Un Joli Mix Pour Toi, A Pretty Mix For You in English, through the Belgian record label, Eskimo Belgium records. Even in live shows, Chromeo was rising higher and higher; in 2007, this duo was the opening act for Bloc Party in their successful UK tour. The same year, Chromeo came out with the album Fancy Footwork, an album that was also a massive hit and result in a two year long world tour that went all over the world.

As part of their world tour, Chromeo performed at numerous venues and festivals including Glastonbury and Reading and Leeds Festival within the UK, the Fujirock festival in Japan, the Iceland Airwaves festival in Iceland, the Pemberton Music Festival in Canada and four awesome US festivals; Coachella festival, Rothbury Festival, Bonnaroo festival and Lollapalooza music festival. Chromeo also collaborated and worked with other artists including being part of the K7 album, DJ-Kicks: Chromeo. One of their songs from the album Fancy Footwork was used in an ad for the VO5 Extreme Hair Gel and yet another song was part of not one but two video games FIFA 09 and FIFA 11.

In 2010, Chromeo released the album Business Casual and also recorded a unique album titled as Drive Time for the mobile phone giant, Nokia, as part of the Nokia Own Voice in Ovi Maps, a satellite navigation pack.
