Slipknot was formed in 1995 by bassist Paul Gray and percussionist Shawn Crahan. The band underwent several lineup changes before it finally settled on a nine-member ensemble in the late 2000s. The band members are known for their attention grabbing image, energetic performances and aggressive music style.
Their self-titled debut album came out in 1999, and brought the band rapid success. By the time Slipknot released its sophomore album in 2001, it was already on its way to international acclaim.
Slipknot’s alternative metal and neo shock-rock allowed them to successfully carve a prominent position in the expanding rap and metal music industry by the turn of the century. What added to their legions of fans was their distinctive theatrical performance style. The band members always wore identical jumpsuits and homemade Halloween masks. They added mysterious anonymity by adopting numbers as their stage aliases. All this coupled with their obsessions of nihilism and darkness makes them popular among metal fans.
In 2004, the band released their third album, “Vol. 3: (The Subliminal Verses).” They followed it up by the Billboard 200 topping record in 2008, “All Hope is Gone”. The fifth album by the band is scheduled to be released this October and is titled as “5: The Gray Chapter”.
In their upcoming concert, the ensemble is expected to perform songs from their new release, as well as some of the fans’ favorites. Get your tickets today and become the first one to watch them perform their new material live. Sharing the stage with Slipknot are the post-grunge era superstars, Korn. The band came into formation as a quartet called ‘LAPD’. After releasing an LP in 1993, the group added lead vocalist Jonathan Davis. Soon after Davis joined LAPD, the ensemble renamed itself to Korn.
Korn released its debut album “Neidermayer’s Mind” in 1993. In the following year, the band released their self-titled debut album and then released their sophomore record, “Life is Peachy” in 1996. However, it was their 1998 album, “Follow the Leader,” which brought the band mainstream success. The album debuted at number one on the Billboard 200.
The follow up 1999 album, “Issues,” followed its predecessor and debuted atop the Billboard 200 chart as well. The turn of the century brought Korn with even more success and its 2002 album, titled “Untouchables” became a huge hit followed by another hit record, “Take a Look in the Mirror”, in 2003.
Korn has released at least twenty-eight charting singles and twelve albums. Their worldwide album sales exceed thirty-five million and grow every day. The band has won two Grammy Awards out of seven nominations and two MTV Video Music Awards out of eleven nominations.
Their latest album, “The Paradigm Shift,” came out in October 2013. In their upcoming concert the band will be featuring songs from this album as well as some of the fans’ favorites.
