Twyla Tharp Tickets

A legendary choreographer, dancer and author, Twyla Tharp has announced her 50th Anniversary Tour. The 74-year old, Academy of Achievement inductee, has recorded several monumental performances and believes that the key to creativity and longevity lies in only one thing – work. According to the maestro, “I’m doing new work and am grateful for the opportunity. For me, work has the possibility of the next aspect and evolving from it; work is not dead-ended even when it’s completed”. The milestone tour will feature two of her latest works “Preludes and Fugues” that is set to Bach and “Yowzie” that fuses American jazz. The 10 weeks cross country celebration starts on September 18 from Dallas and will stretch through November 22. Twyla Tharp tickets are now available.

Tharp Celebrates Golden Anniversary – Twyla Tharp Tickets in Demand

Having travelled a long, rewarding and rich twisting road, Twyla Tharp danced from avant-garde to Broadway. Instead of taking a retrospective approach on this grand celebratory tour, Tharp and her troupe has announced two new works. “Preludes and Fugues” is set to the Bach’s rousing Well-Tempered Clavier, whereas “Yowzie” is an energetic, stomping piece that features the music by New Orleans’ rollicking pianist Henry Butler and slide trumpeter Steven Bernstein.

Known for creating complex and ambitious dance works, Twyla Tharp has helped bridge popular and classical forms. In this celebratory tour every dance will be introduced by a fanfare and John Zorn will serve as the composer and costumes have been designed by Santo Loquasto. Some of the top dancers have been roped in for this production who have long histories with the diva. Tharp has nurtured the talent of many people, cultivating them as dancers and in her words, “establishing identity together”. Veterans like Matthew Dibble, John Selya, Rika Okamoto and Ron Todorowski will be part of the tour and Tharp has rounded in some fresh talent as well. Newbie, Ramona Kelley, Kaitlyn Gilliland and Reed Tankersley will be seen in this production.

A Dance Legend Like No Other

A choreographer like no other, Twyla Tharp has choreographed more than 160 works. She is the most talented dancer and choreographer to grace the modern stage. Her unique and new dance forms have resulted in 129 dances, 12 TV specials, 6 movies, 4 ballet shows, 4 Broadway productions and 2 figure-skating routines. Exposed to music and dance when she was only 18 months old, Tharp was a curious and graceful child. When she was old enough to learn, she not only got dancing lessons but also trained to play different instruments like piano, violin and drums. She prepared for an exciting career early on, learning various dance forms such as tap, jazz, ballet and modern. Her dancing career began with the Paul Taylor Dance Company and later she formed her own company, Twyla Tharp Dance. Through her innovative style and quirky sense of humor, Tharp has carved a niche for herself and has today attained the status of a legend.
