The show was conceived when Nancy Cassaro and Mark Nassar were two university undergraduates. Studying together at Hofstra University, Cassaro and Nassar, invented the two characters as a requirement for their classroom activity. What began as improvisational work by two drama class outcasts, began to take a more solid shape as more effort was put into it.

As Cassaro and Nassar, matured and developed professionally, their characters did too, slowly gaining more definition. Eventually it was decided that they would stage an improvised wedding and their friends will play the roles of the various members invited to the party. Mark and Nancy brought the characters to life and developed the performance into the hilarious show we know today as Tony ‘n Tina’s Wedding.

The story revolves around the wedding, as the families of the bride and groom interact. The two colorful Italian and American families bring about unexpected family drama, loads of laughs and an enjoyable evening.
