The Brainchild of Aaron Sorkin

To Kill A Mockingbird is a brainchild of the Academy Award winning director, screenwriter, producer and playwright Aaron Sorkin. He has previously worked on famous plays, The Farnsworth Invention and A Few Good Men. The show is based on the Pulitzer Prize-winning novel of the same name which was authored by Harper Lee.

The Plot

The plot of To Kill a Mockingbird circles around a young narrator Scout Finch which is portrayed by Nina Grollman who shares the story of the Great Depression era. Set in Maycomb, Alabama, Scout lives a pretty comfortable life with her brother Jem Finch (Nick Robinson) and father Atticus Finch (Ed Harris). The play highlights Scout Finch's journey from innocence to observing racial prejudices. It also discusses the challenges of an up righteous family that represents morality and justice in a compromised world.

Becoming A Hit

To Kill A Mockingbird debuted on Broadway at the Shubert Theatre on December 13, 2018 and starred Jeff Daniels as Atticus Finch. The show became a big hit, grossing $1.5 million and was praised by The New York Post, New York Magazine, The Guardian, The Hollywood Reporter and Rolling Stone.
