The band was formed in formed in the early 1990s in the beautiful city of Sydney, Australia. Anthony Field, together with Philip Wilcher, Greg Page, Murray Cook and Jeff Fatt were the original founding members of the band who stayed together for fifteen years. Originally, a five member band, the Wiggles has now been reduced to a total of four members. Philip Wilcher left the group in the mid 2000s because of personal reasons whereas Greg Page had to retire from the band because of issues with his health. After he left the band, Sam Moran was hired as his replacement and he is still with the band to date. The band recorded its first album in the same year it was formed, in 1991 which drew quite a lot of attention. This album was mainly recorded for a school project. As part of this project, the band also did a tour together. The history of the band and the work on theories of child development brought them much attention in the years that followed. The tour itself gained massive popularity in the later years of the band that plenty of other acts joined them as well. They have been joined on their tours with characters like Dorothy the Dinosaur, Captain Feathersword, Wags the Dog, Henry the Octopus and many more. The band has also been on tours with acts like the Wiggly dancers. The Wiggly dancers have made several appearances with the Wiggles both on their tours as well as on the DVD releases. The DVDs released by the group was just as colorful as any of their live performances. The band members were seen driving around in giant colorful cartoon cars, singing along the butterflies and having lots of fun with the children who danced along to their terrific tunes. The live shows of the band are no less of a treat for the young ones and also equally interesting for the parents.
