The Sound Of Music Chicago Tickets

Tony Award winning musical, The Sound of Music is coming to Chicago. This endearing musical will be presented  at the Civic Opera House. London’s West End premiere of the musical was conducted at the Palace Theatre in 1961. Directed by Jerome Whyte, it ran for a total of two thousand three hundred and eight five performances. He used original New York choreography which was supervised by Joe Layton whereas Oliver Smith was responsible for the original set designs. The incredible cast included Jean Bayless, Roger Dann, Constance Shacklock, Eunice Gayson, Harold Kasket and others.

Sound of Music came in 1959 and turned out to be a phenomenal musical. It is based on The Story of the Trapp Family Singers, a memoir of Maria von Trapp. The book on the musical was co-penned by Russel Crouse and Howard Lindsay. The melodic music was given by Richard Rodgers whereas the meaningful lyrics were written by Oscar Hammerstein II. The repertoire of famous songs includes "My Favorite Things", "Do-Re-Mi", "Edelweiss", "Climb Ev'ry Mountain" and not to forget the standard title song, "The Sound of Music". Starring Mary Martin and Theodore Bikel, the original Broadway production premiered in 1959. The show has enjoyed several productions and revivals. 

Based on a true story of Trapp Family Singers, the musical revolves around the life of a young nun, Maria. Juvenile Maria misses her morning prayers and likes to enjoy the serene environment of the hills instead. Concerned Mother Superior decides to teach the soon to be married Maria some sense of responsibility. She sends Maria to the widowed Captain Von Trapp’s house to serve as the governess of his children. There she finds out that her boss is cold-natured with seven children acting as machines around him. Maria soon finds herself bonding with the children. Everything and everyone is happy until Maria realizes that she is falling for the Captain. Would she express her feelings to the Captain? Find out by getting The Sound of Music Chicago tickets.
