The Office a Musical Parody tickets sales have exceeded all expectations, prompting an extended run on Off-Broadway. The masters of parody and satire, Bob and Tobly McSmith’s stage adaptation of NBC’s hit TV show “The Office” has been hailed as hilarious and completely delightful. A love letter to the Primetime Emmy Award winning, “Outstanding Comedy Series”, the musical pays homage to some of the best moments in the sitcom. It has already celebrated over a 100 performances at the New York’s The Jerry Orbach Theater and is ready to shatter all box-office records.

The Office – Gone But Never Forgotten

Who wouldn’t want a little The Office in their lives again? The super hit sitcom ended its run on NBC in 2013 and since then the diehard fans have been filling that void with the re-runs. But not anymore.

God bless the producers and writers Bob and Tobly McSmith, who have once again treated theatergoers to an epic musical parody. Previously the duo presented “Bayside! The Saved by the Bell Musical”, “Full House! The Musical” and “FRIENDS! The Musical Parody”.

The satirical twist premiered at the Jerry Orbach Theater in October 2018 and since then the cast has been performing in front of sold-out crowd, night after night. The soaring sales of The Office a Musical Parody tickets clearly suggest that the audience are responding quite enthusiastically to the musical. According to Bob and Tobly, it’s their most successful parody as the house is packed with people of all age groups – men and women, and even high school kids. From office outings to birthday parties and even date nights, The Office Musical is the go-to-event to enjoy all these celebrations.

The Office Cast Pulls It Off

Taking inspiration from the show’s episode title “The Diversity Day”, the musical introduces its first praise worthy twist – casting a female Michael Scott. Sarah Mackenzie Baron – that’s what she said indeed, gave the best audition and nabbed the role of a lifetime for herself.

And she has surely done justice to the character, capturing the charm of Michael Scott and presenting it on stage with the perfect energy and humor. She effectively takes on Scott’s wild expressions and big eyes, highlighting both his enthusiasm and desperation to be the best boss ever.

Michael Santora plays Dwight Schrute and nails the irritable and cynical persona of the salesman who viewers came to love over the years. All the actors besides Baron and Santora pull a double duty, playing multiple roles. Tom McGovern shines as both Jim Halpert and Andy Bernard; whereas, Taylor Coriell stands out in her mannerisms and delivery as Pam Beesly and Erin.

A tough feat no doubt, but the musical successfully covers nine seasons worth of humor, aphorisms, quirks and the hilarious shenanigans of the Dunder Mifflin Paper Company into two hours.

Team McSmith Hits the Nail with Hilariously Nostalgic Spectacle

If anyone could pull it off, it was Bob and Tobly McSmith. The duo has taken into account all the details and even as the audience makes way to the Jerry Orbach Theater, pre-show music featuring songs from the sitcom can be heard. With the tracks “Drift Away”, “Goodbye Stranger” and “Forever” setting the momentum, the curtain rises on the cast performing “We Have Fun Here”.

The audience is whisked on a fast-paced trip down the memory lane. Donald Garverick as the director and choreographer takes on all the challenges – big and small, thus presenting the musical with a captivating and creative flair.

Josh Iacovelli is brilliant with the stage design that is practical, intricate and effective, all at the same time. Music by Assaf Gleizner stands out as the talented musician has once again created a score that’s versatile and catchy.

A delightful musical spectacle, The Office a Musical Parody is raunchy and sometimes offensive – but jokes are meant to be, according to Michael Scott. In the end it’s an enjoyable experience that will fill that nostalgic void in your heart.
