About The Nutcracker

The Nutcracker follows the story of a curious young girl, Clara and her handsome prince as they embark on a magical journey through a kingdom filled with various colorful characters. Clara’s enchanting journey in the midst of magical toy soldiers, sparkling snowflakes and mischievous mice, along with a beautiful, glittering Christmas tree is the perfect way to celebrate this season’s festivities with your entire family. With over a 100 performers, the American Ballet Theater is set to bring to life one of the most notable holiday productions ever!

The Creative Team of The Nutcracker

The Nutcracker features choreography from Alexei Ratmansky, the Russian-American choreographer known for works such as Cinderella, Flames of Paris and The Bright Stream, among others. Before his residency with the American Ballet, he spent four years as the director of the Bolshoi Ballet.

The music of this edition of The Nutcracker is by the legendary Peter Ilyich Tchaikovsky. The Nutcracker’s score is one of the most popular and awe-inspiring works by the Russian musician. Set and costume design has been handled by Richard Hudson, while the lighting designer is the talented Jennifer Tipton.
