The play was first shown as a West End Production in 1952 at the Ambassador Theatre. Mousetrap right from its first show enthused the theatrical circles. The Detective Sergeant comes to the hotel with the news Mrs. Maureen Lyon’s death in London and he also hints that they are in searchof her murderer which is suspected to be hiding in this hotel. Nobody can keep its cool after listening to this horrific news. The entire atmosphere gets grave with suspicion and lack of trust dominating the situation. No one can trust each other anymore everyone looks at each other mistrustfully. The situation even worsens when there is a dead body found in the hotel. The premonition of the Sergeant now looks like an evident verity. The case instead of being sorted out becomes hazier.

The Mousetrap is actually a theatrical version of a radio play written for Queen Mary. The Royal connections of the play makes it even special, Agatha Christie was requested by Queen Mary to write something for her and then it was aired on the radio named as Three Blind Mice. The radio version was later on transformed into a West End production.
