Plot

The story of The Book of Mormon revolves around two young Mormon missionaries who set off to a Ugandan village on a preaching expedition. Upon arriving there, they realize that the people of the village are too consumed with struggling for basic necessities of life to pay any attention to their ‘spiritual’ message. Their priorities are totally different and thus the missionaries find it rather difficult to convince or persuade them. Besides, one of the two missionaries is not even fully aware of the scripture content himself. He is not only in the wrong place but also unprepared for the task. In such unexpected situations, the missionaries behave in the funniest ways, bringing about laughs amongst the audience.

Achievements

The Book of Mormon has been a hit with critics and fans alike. It has won several prestigious awards and honors. Having received fourteen Tony Award nominations, the musical won the honor in nine categories. These include ‘Best Direction’, ‘Best Original Score’ as well as ‘Best Musical.’
