Stomp is the creative brainchild of Steve McNicholas and Luke Cresswell, who started it in 1991 in Brighton, UK. Since then, their show has been seen and appreciated worldwide by over a million people. It has also produced a number of touring and resident shows. Stomp has charmed audiences in many countries such as the UK, South Africa, Scandinavia, Germany, Netherlands, France and the US.
The show was first brought to the US in 1994, where it opened at the Orpheum Theatre in New York. The production won two awards for ‘Most Unique Theatre Experience’ at Obie Awards and Drama Desk Awards.
The Stompers use everyday objects as percussion instruments to create energetic, astonishing performances. These objects vary from matchboxes and garbage cans to broomsticks and zippo lighters. They create a beautiful harmony, full of powerful beats, rhythm, dance and music. The show is lauded as “a sure-fire crowd-pleaser” by the New York Times and as “an incredible primal journey” by the Chicago Tribune.
