McNicholas and Cresswell then formed a new troupe: a group of 8 performers who debuted at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival as Stomp, back in 1991.

The band soon began experimenting and improvising during their performances, using all sorts of objects to create a distinct sound. They soon began touring internationally and became an indispensable part of pop culture. Stomp is now celebrating a quarter century, and is still as relevant as it was 25 years ago.

In 2008, the band was included in Entertainment Weekly's list of "New Classics: The 50 Best Plays and Musicals from 1983 to 2008."

In 2000, they performed at Bill Clinton's Millennium celebration, and in 2012, they performed at the London Olympics closing ceremony.
