The 2016-17 season marks the 45^th season for the Nevada Ballet Theatre. The Nutcracker has become a festive holiday tradition here, and each year the production grows and becomes better than before.

Set for eleven performances which are to held over three weekends, audiences in Nevada can experience the warmth, wonder, magic, and sparkle that come with the season. Take a trip to Clara’s warm home and find yourself suddenly transported into a world of magic and excitement. You’ll see toy soldiers, exotic visitors from far off lands, and rodents which are very mischievous.

The set pieces will transport you into a magical winter wonderland and Tchaikovsky's iconic score, as it sores through the theatre, will leave you dazzled.

The Christmas Story Everyone Loves

The Nutcracker has proven to be one of the most enduring tales of the holiday season. This is a story of young Clara, who during the Christmas season receives the Nutcracker as a gift. After unwrapping the Nutcracker, Clara soon drifts off to sleep. The next thing she knows, young Clara is on an adventure that she can scarcely believe!

As she tries to get her bearings, Clara is caught up in a battle between soldiers and mice. In her hour of need, the Nutcracker shows up at just the right moment and saves her. The two then set off together on an exciting journey through the enchanted Kingdom of Snow and the delicious Kingdom of Sweets.

On their adventure, both Clara and the Nutcracker encounter many obstacles and challenges. The two must help each other and save each other in order to continue on their journey.

The Smith Center

The Nevada Ballet Theatre presents The Nutcracker this holiday season. The production will be playing at Reynolds Hall in The Smith Center for the Performing Arts. Audiences can expect to hear the stunning score by Peter Ilyich Tchaikovsky brought to life by a Live Orchestra which is sponsored in part by Nancy & Kell Houssels.

About the Nevada Ballet Theatre

The Nevada Ballet Theatre is a professional ballet and dance company which was founded by former dancers Nancy Houssels and Vassili Sulich. Both of these individuals had a desire to bring a more classical dance style to the performing arts in Las Vegas.

Today, the Nevada Ballet Theatre is widely regarded as one of the best dance facilities in the entire country. It is home to a host of full-time professional dancers and over 400 students. It is also regarded as an indisputable community treasure and has provided audiences with numerous breathtaking performances to watch.
