Mariachi Vargas De Tecalitlan Tickets

The first generation of the Mariachi Vargas de Tecalitlán began in the city of its namesake, Tecalitlán. It was commenced, as mentioned earlier, by Gasper Vargas who held the honor of being the Don in his area. He was an expert at playing the mariachera, or the 'guitarra de glope' as it was called by many locals at the time. He was joined by Manuel Mendoza, who would play the wooden harp with him, and by two other violin players, Refugio Hernandez and Lino Quintero. It was these basic instruments that would produce the signature music of the city, or the 'Sonido Tecalitlán' as it was known. The way that the foursome played it also set it apart from the 'Sonido Cocula', the traditional music of the Cocula area which was slightly different, in that they used vihuela instead of a harp and an additional 'guitarra de golpe' in place of the violins. As they went on to perform as an ensemble, they began to make their own additions to the music. Around 1913, Gaspar tried adding a trumpet into the mix to see how it plays out with the sound. This idea was largely rejected by the listeners who felt as though it interfered with the softer sound of the rest of the instrumentation. When it faced criticism everywhere, he decided to switch the trumpet with yet another violin so that their sound would be enriched. At this point in the band's career, there were five members. Sometime in 1921, Gaspar's son, Silvestre Vargas also decided to join the band as a violinist. This was the first version of the band, the ensemble that laid the foundation of what the others would carry on over the years. Each version would carry with them a wad of musical history that the prior created before moving onto their own endeavors.

Mariachi Vargas de Tecalitlán tickets today are being sold for the fifth and the latest generation of the band. They choose to play the same instruments that were included in the original group, but with a few additions and modifications so that it would be relevant in the modern day. Two harps are played instead of one, and now, a total of six violins are played so that it becomes a proper string line. A guitar and a vihuela is also part of the mix as per usual, but this time, three trumpets are also added in such a way that it fits right into the music instead of standing out on its own as it did in the early days. The modern group has recorded many of its works, including '5ta Generacion', and 'Penas, Desengaños... Y Amores'. They have continued to play folk music and also play classical tunes or sones from time to time. Having been present for over 100 years, the band has managed to reach out to audiences everywhere. These include not only the Latin or Spanish speaking audiences, but the wider global audience that has found an appreciation for the preservation of music. Their concerts, apart from being musical masterpieces, are enlightenment to what Mexican music is really like.
