La Theater Works is a non-profit media arts company that has been active in the State of California for over three decades now.  It is located on 681 Venice Boulevard in Venice, California. The company has produced a number of different musicals as well as music tours to various cities across the US. It was founded somewhere in the early 70’s and initially was named Artists in Prison. Eventually in 1980 the name was changed to L.A Theater Works. During the period from 1985 till 2012 the company has recorded a whooping over 400 plays. L.A Theater Works has adapted the works of acclaimed writers like Oscar Wilde, Shakespeare, Moliere, Kenneth Lonergan, Yasmina Raza and Arthur Miller. The latest production by L.A Theater Works is Pride and Prejudice. This is a play adapted from the famous novel of the same name that was written by Jane Austen in 1813. This novel has already gained phenomenal popularity across the globe and till date has sold over 20 million copies. One proof of the popularity of this novel can be judged by the fact that the largest ever poll for UK’s Best Loved Book was conducted by BBC in 2003, and this novel was ranked at #2 after Lord of the Rings.  Pride and Prejudice has been adapted numerous times for a number of stage productions as well mainstream films. The novel is set in the fictional town of Meryton in Hertfordshire. The main theme of the story revolves around a rich bachelor man who is searching for a wife. Some of the main characters in the novel are the five sisters Mary Bennet, Elizabeth, Kitty, Lydia and Jane Bennet. Mr Darcy is the male protagonist of the novel, Mr and Mrs Bennet (parents of the five young ladies) and Lady Catherine de Bourgh.
