La Cage Aux Folles is a popular musical which has music by Jerry Herman. He has also written the lyrics while the book is written by Harvey Fierstein. The story is based on Jean Poiret's play of the same name that was published in 1973 and centers around a gay couple who find themselves in a rather conservative family situation. Protagonist Georges, who is the manager of a nightclub offering drag entertainment, is romantically involved with Albin, his star attraction. The two are pushed into farcical adventures when Georges' son invites home his fiancee's exceedingly conservative parents.
