He even pursued formal university level training in semiotics to later comeback to NPR. As a part of the NPR team he trained and became an active reporter and also hosted numerous shows. From his debut show as host Joe Frank’s he was able to host a line of other shows that include, Morning Edition, All Things Considered, and Talk of the Nation. His personal favorite and an inspiration for the American Life show remains The Wild Room. This show featured Ira Glass as a co-host but was meant to cater to the interests of every man who is American in the heart and soul. The Wild Room managed to capture huge following since its outreach was very impressive and the underlying theme, very simple and appealing. The experiences gained in the Wild Room were intellectually and emotionally rewarding for Ira Glass and allowed him to pursue radio with a goal and vision of speaking to public without hurting anyone. He also aimed to bring an average American with an unrecognized talent and skill to public through this show. However, he decided to take this idea a step further on his signature venture This American Life. This American Life became Ira Glass’  baby in 1995. As a host and producer of this WBEZ show Ira Glass became its proud owner and representative. With almost two decades of smooth running This American Life has become an integral part of American radio audiences. The show reaches about two million listeners and also wins almost fifty minutes of average listening time every week. These statistics advocate the commercial success of This American Life and Ira Glass as a public presenter who has identified with This American life and an American like none other. Ira Glass became the owner of the Edward R. Murrow Award for Outstanding Contributions to Public Radio in 2005. Another prestigious mark on Ira Glass’ portfolio is the George Polk Award in Radio Reporting for Very Tough Love. This pilot project was not the first investigative report conducted by Glass, however, its impact on the civil society and the system remains farfetched. The immense popularity of This American Life called for an incarnation for television. Ira Glass took this show to television in 2007 following a half-hour format spanning thirteen episodes for over two season until 2009. Apart from this Ira Glass appeared on other show like The Late Show, The Colbert Report, TBTL, Daily Show with Jon Stewart, Adam Carolla's podcast, Drunk Show at the Eugene Mirman Comedy Festival, WTF Live with Marc Maron, and The Simpsons episode called Elementary School Musical. All these radio and television presentations saw Ira Glass coming every time to host and participate with an aim. The aim has focused always on the public and has meaningfully delivered substantial contribution at the social level.   Ira Glass was a man whose purposeful career pivoted on public relief and uplift. However, Glass never drifted from the subtleness of a sensitive artist. He has always Ira Glass has invested thirty years of his life for public doing live show.
