In June 2015, the stage play was confirmed, under the title of Harry Potter and the Cursed Child. It was also confirmed that the storyline of the play would be set nineteen years after the final novel of the series, Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows, concluded. Harry is now the Head of the Department of Magical Law Enforcement and has a son named Albus Severus Potter.

The play first opened in London, at the Palace Theatre, and was a massive success. It opened on Broadway in April 2018 at the famed Lyric Theatre.
