The company was created in 1972 under Sally Seven who was the Artistic Director at the time. It developed its Summerfest School in order to produce talented dancers in 1983 and later joined Grand Rapids Civic Ballet. Currently the company has many professional dancers who have set the stage ablaze many times with their performances. These dancers include Megan DeMuro, Dawnell Dryja, Connie Flachs, Darrell Haggard, Steven Houser and Cassidy Isaacson. Other wonderful performers include Dave Naquin, Yuka Oba, Scott Pascal, Monica Pelfrey, Rachel Riley, Stephen Sanford, Laura McQueen Schultz and Nicholas Schultz. Hannah Wilcox, Kyohei Giovanni Yoshida, Isaac Aoki, Gracie Huber, DJ Strong, Demi Trezona, Morgan Frasier, Keely Lytton as well as Caroline Wiley are also a part of the ballet company’s lineup.

The Grand Rapid Ballet mostly performs at the Peter Martin Wege Theatre as well as at the DeVos Performance Hall and embarks on several tours across the states.
