If you want to experience the charm of live family entertainment then ‘Frindle’ is the way to go! This play is based on the work of the famed children’s book author, Andrew Clement. Frindle was the very first novel by the celebrated author and ever since its publication in 1996 it has achieved a long list of awards including a Christopher Award and numerous state book awards. Due to the immense popularity of the original book it was translated in many languages like Italian, German, Portuguese, Japanese and Dutch. The play is scheduled to be performed at the Clowes Memorial Hall so gather your family and friends for a great afternoon filled with excitement and imagination. The ingenious and quirky tale of the play focuses on the power of creative thought and words; it would have you and your family inventing your own new words on your way out of the hall. To be among the audience and witness this amazing masterpiece in the form of a full length play buy your very own  Frindle  tickets.

Frindle would be playing at the Clowes Memorial Hall which is a theatre located at the artistic campus of Butler University in Indiana. This hall has a seating capacity of more than 2100 seats and has catered numerous hit productions and musical performances. It has been the venue of the hit musical Les Misérables and recently in 2011 the singing sensation, Adam Lambert recorded his first live studio album at this hall.

The fictional characters of the story book were brought to life when William Massolia adapted the story in to a play. Massolia the artistic director at the Griffin Theatre Company has also written various children plays including Sleeping Ugly, Little Brother and Be More Chill. Griffin Theatre Company is a non-profit theatre company which is committed to delivering incredible performances of original adaptations. The ‘Children Programs’ produced by the company aspires not only to entertain but to educate as well by selecting popular, award winning children’s literature and encouraging people and groups to go through the books and discuss the literature before actually going about seeing the play that is adapted from it. The Director of the innovative play is Richard A. Barletta, who is recognized for some of his famous works comprising Shakespeare’s Dog, Mackay’s Bees, Riding the Dolphin and Loving Little Egypt.

Frindle revolves around the prime character of an enthusiastic and slick fifth grade boy named Nick Allen. His abilities for stalling and finagling teachers out of giving extra home work assignment are highly praised by his class peers.  As the plot progresses Nick becomes unhappy due to his much disliked and gloomy English teacher Mrs Granger. One day in Mrs. Granger’s class on the importance of words, Nick comes up with an ingenious idea to keep his teacher pontificating over the question of "where do words come from?" However Nick’s plan backfires as he is assigned a research project with the task of finding out the answer to his own question.  The plot becomes more fascinating when the fifth grader in his counter attack comes up with his own word "frindle". Get ready to witness the excitement as Nick’s clash with his teacher and his invention of the new word for ‘pen’ immediately escalates in to a nationwide fuss. Frindle would help the audience realize that imagination is not just an escape from reality, but an originator of possibility.

The play is not only suited for families but is also perfect for academic purposes specifically for the young audience. It portrays the principles of great teaching and sheds lights on the life that prevails through classrooms and the corridors of a school. The children experiencing this play would not only be fully engaged due to the comical side of the play but would also be forced to think about perseverance and how it leads to positive change.
