Frindle revolves around the prime character of an enthusiastic and slick fifth grade boy named Nick Allen. His abilities for stalling and finagling teachers out of giving extra home work assignment are highly praised by his class peers. As the plot progresses Nick becomes unhappy due to his much disliked and gloomy English teacher Mrs Granger. One day in Mrs. Granger’s class on the importance of words, Nick comes up with an ingenious idea to keep his teacher pontificating over the question of "where do words come from?" However Nick’s plan backfires as he is assigned a research project with the task of finding out the answer to his own question. The plot becomes more fascinating when the fifth grader in his counter attack comes up with his own word "frindle". Get ready to witness the excitement as Nick’s clash with his teacher and his invention of the new word for ‘pen’ immediately escalates in to a nationwide fuss.
