Her grandmother was the first person in her family to recognize her talent. She understood the basics of piano playing and how notes can be arranged even though she had never studied music. Emily Bear had fantastic memory right from the start and could play songs easily after listening to them once or twice. This allowed her to compose music at the age of three. She was immediately placed at the Music Institute of Chicago where she developed her skills. She enrolled in Winnetka four years later where she studied classical music. She had composed more than 350 pieces by the time she became eight years old.

Emily Bears has appeared on The Ellen DeGeneres Show six times and has also performed for the former President George W Bush at the White House when she was only six. In 2011, she made her debut at the Hollywood Bowl in which she played her own compositions in front of 11,000 people. She is lauded by many artists and music analysts for her shift between genres. She has worked with Grammy Award winning artist Esperanza Spalding at the 45th Montreux Jazz Festival held in Switzerland. Her performance in front of a sellout crowd of Schumann’s Piano Concerto is one of her most recent in which she played alongside Santa Fe Concert Association Symphony. Emily Bear premiered her eight new works with the orchestra during that performance. Her notable Jazz performances include her performance with the renowned Rockford Symphony Orchestra.

Emily Bear is currently a student of classical music. She learns new techniques from Mary Sauer the principal keyboardist at Chicago Symphony. Veda Kaplinsky and Ron Sadoff are her other teachers. Emily Bear likes to create music for films and her interest in learning from Ron Sadoff, the head of NYU Film Scoring Department further confirms this.

Besides music, Emily Bear likes swimming, designing jewelry and ice skating. She likes to donate her earnings to charity organizations like Children’s Hospitals of Los Angeles and Chicago.
