About ELF

The musical presents the hilarious tale of Buddy, the Elf who is one of many Santa’s little helpers. Except there is one problem; he isn’t little at all. He is human-sized, but he is not familiar with what that means.  After a holidays tour with Santa, Buddy discovers that there is a whole world of people who are as tall as him. He confronts his Elf community, who tell him that he is half-human. Hence begins a quest to find Buddy’s loved ones, as he bravely ventures into New York City to find his birthfather. He is charmingly naïve about most things of the human world and therefore often ends up in hilarious trouble. What ensues is a tale of an individual rediscovering himself in a strange, new world.

The Play

This production is directed by Amber Mak, who envisioned it from the perspective of someone who has never seen a holiday film or production before. The play is for everyone above five years, and this means there may be a large amount of the audience who are watching a theatrical production for the first time. Therefore, she has kept it simple, making sure that the story and character shine through everything else.
