Dirty Dancing in Concert – North American Dates Announced

Fans of the 80s’ hit movie “Dirty Dancing,” are about to have the time of their life as Patrick Swayze and Jennifer Grey’s blockbuster celebrates 35 years. Dirty Dancing in Concert offers a one-of-a-kind experience as the live film-to-concert extravaganza goes on tour. Enjoy the digitally remastered film on cinema size screen as live band performs the critically acclaimed songs.

Dirty Dancing in Concert will hit 35 cities, the North American 2022 tour starting on October 23 from Halifax will be making stops in Portland, Boston, Philadelphia, Hamilton, Indianapolis, and Atlanta, among others. According to the schedule released, the tour will wrap up in Savannah on December 4, 2022.

According to the information released on the tour’s official website, there will be an encore party following the film where the singers and the band will rock the acclaimed songs like Hungry Eyes, I’ve Had the Time of My Life, Be My Baby, and She’s Like the Wind.

Dirty Dancing is a renowned musical based on 1987's romantic film of the same name. It was basically a low budget film, directed by Emile Ardolino, and featured no major stars, except Jerry Orbach, the Broadway legend. Orbach plays Jake in the film as the father of the heroin 'Baby' Houseman (Jennifer Grey). The role of the hero, Johnny Castle, is played by the late Patrick Swayze; who became the heartthrob of the nation after this movie. Another notable character in the film is of Cynthia Rhodes, played by Penny Johnson.

The film became a huge box office hit, earning more than $214 million throughout the world. It also became the first film to sell over a million copies on home video. In addition, the Dirty Dancing soundtrack produced two multi-platinum albums and several singles, such as the multi award winning track - '(I've Had) The Time of My Life'. The single was such a success that it received both the Academy Award and the Golden Globe Award for Best Original Song, along with winning a Grammy for Best Duet.

A prequel of the film was also made in 2004, called Dirty Dancing: Havana Nights, which was followed by the stage version - Dirty Dancing: The Classic Story on Stage.
