Come From Away: About the musical

Come From Away is the brainchild of Irene Sankoff and David Hein who wrote lyrics and provided music to the show too. They also penned down the book of the musical. The show first completed its test run in 2012 before it debuted at the Sheridan College in Oakville a year later.

It was then performed in cities like San Diego, Seattle, Washington and Toronto. On March 12, 2017, the musical premiered on Broadway at the Gerald Schoenfeld Theatre. The original Broadway production of the show earned several nominations for the Tony Award including one for the ‘Best Musical’ and starred stars like, Chad Kimball, Jenn Colella, Joel Hatch and Rodney Hicks.

Apart from enjoying immense commercial success, Come From Away has also received positive response from the critics. It has been praised by different publications including, NY1, Newsweek, The Daily Beast, The New York Times and The Hollywood Reporter.
