Welcome to the world of Cirque du Soleil

Before two highly talented street performers, Gilles Ste-Croix and Guy Laliberté formed Cirque du Soleil in 1984, the duo launched a touring show titled, ‘Les Échassiers.’ The show failed to get the expected financial returns but managed to break even. Ste-Croix and Laliberté later took a grant of $1.5 million from the government and introduced the world to, ‘Le Grand Tour du Cirque du Soleil.’ The show became a hit and was performed for thirteen consecutive weeks across eleven towns. Cirque du Soleil then experienced massive growth in the 90s and produced nineteen shows which were staged in more than 271 cities.

Today, Cirque du Soleil is running many successful shows including Kurios: Cabinet of Curiosities which debuted three years ago in 2014. The show received praise from the critics and gathered positive reviews from publications like, The Toronto Star, The Gazette, The Globe and Mail, Daily Mail and the San Francisco Chronicle.
