The Plot
The story of Charlie and The Chocolate Factory revolves around a young boy, Charlie Bucket who comes from a poor family. One day, Willy Wonka, the inventor and owner of an amazing chocolate factory announces a small scavenger hunt and ask the youngsters to find five golden tickets that he hides across the town for a chance to enter the building. The children do so including Charlie Bucket who goes on this once in a lifetime adventure with his granddad Joe. Broadway Production
Charlie and The Chocolate Factory opened made its Broadway debut at the Lunt-Fontanne Theatre in New York City on May 9, 2016. Starring Christian Borle as Willy Wonka and Ryan Sell as Charlie Bucket, the show became a hit and ran for 305 performances before the production concluded on January 14, 2018.
Since it premiered on Broadway, Charlie and The Chocolate Factory has toured the United States and Australia. The show's latter production received great response from the critics and was praised by The Australian who described the show in just one word, 'Winner.'
