It was in December 1986 that Broadway was given another play and it was Broadway Bound. It was opened at the Broadthurst Theatre where it ran for a total of 756 performances before closing. The play was produced by Emanuel Azenberg and the direction was given by Gene Saks. The play got positive reviews from the critics and has its own special position in Broadway. The original Broadway production starred Jonathan Silverman as Eugene, Jason Alexander as Stanley, Linda Lavin as Kate and Phyllis Newman as Blanche. When their comedy play gets on air, their father notices striking similarities between the fictional families the two brothers have used in their writing and their own. Their father is outraged and it leads to a heated argument between Jack and Stanley in which his affair is brought out on the open as well. Eventually, Jack leaves, the two brothers get offers they have been wanting and go for it while their mother starts living with her father.
