Blue Man Group originally involved the friends Chris Wink, Matt Goldman and Phil Stanton performing amateur and informal acts in Manhattan. Then in one fortunate turn of events Meryl Vlademir, the artistic director of a theater group called CLUB@ La Mama happened to watch them perform and, thoroughly impressed, decided to start patronizing the trio. Blue Man Group thus compiled its first full-length show titled "Tubes" which instantly earned critical appreciation. The group went on to win an Obie Award (1991) and a Lucile Lortel Award (1992) for its brilliance in off-Broadway theater.
The Blue Man Group has performed globally in countries including the United Kingdom, Japan, Switzerland, Sweden and Austria. The trio is back in the US, reloaded for new series of Blue Man Group Detroit, MI performances.
