The famous Broadway musical, Annie, will be staged at Saenger Theatre in New Orleans this coming February. The musical is based on Little Orphan Annie, which is a famous comic strip by Harold Gray. It comprises Martin Charnin's lyrics and music by Charles Strouse. The musical's storyline revolves around the book written by Thomas Meehan.

The musical is about an orphan Annie who resides in the Municipal Girls Orphanage. She is a young girl around the age of eleven who believes that her parents are alive. The musical describes her struggles and attempts to look for her parents.

Annie originally premiered on Broadway in 1977. Alvin Theatre's record for longest running show was initially set by Annie, after it ran for six years. Annie was the recipient for the Tony Award for "Best Musical" that year. Some of the musical's top rated tracks include "Hard-Knock Life" and "Tomorrow".

Annie has also been staged at the West End and it opened at the Victoria Palace Theatre in 1978. The musical's twentieth anniversary revival on Broadway premiered at the Martin Beck Theatre in 1997. The same musical show has been produced not only in the US and UK but also in Argentina, Denmark, Australia, Italy, Hungary, Miami and many other countries, professionally.
