Ira David Wood III

He is the seventy one year old author, actor, singer and Executive Director of Theatre in the Park since 1972. He has had cameo appearances in films and TV shows even though he is a live theater performer. He is the two-time winner of the Medal of Arts Award and has been called "one of the fifty most influential people in the Triangle area". He has also received the "Order of the Long Leaf Pine".

Most famously, he is known best in his role of Ebenezer Scrooge in his musical comedy of A Christmas Carol. Based on the novel by Charles Dickens, Wood III had produced and headlined this show since 1974. He had taken a medical leave in 2010 following a heart surgery. Otherwise he has been playing Ebenezer Scrooge since he conceived the musical comedy idea. This version of the musical is the first to have a comic element ever in an adaptation of any type. A local news paper had claimed it as "one of the most successful shows in North Carolina theater history"

The Production
